Growing up in South India, my home was defined by a constant, festive energy that centered around the kitchen. Whether it was the rhythmic sizzle of morning idly and dosa before my mom headed to work, or the aromatic, multi-course feasts she prepared for temple offerings and festivals, food was our language of connection.
I watched her balance the demands of life with a grace that turned everyday meals into something special. On Sundays, our table groaned under the weight of 3–4 meat and seafood dishes, curries, and evening snacks. Yet, through the 10-course holiday meals and the busy weekday mornings, I never once saw her complain. To her, feeding us—and sharing extra food with others—was a way to show her unconditional love.
People often ask me how I manage to cook so much. The truth is, it doesn't feel like "work" when it’s something you love. Following my mom’s lead, I believe:
Food should never be wasted. (The "Zero-Waste" heart of this site).
Cooking is a journey, not a chore.
The best meals are the ones shared with others.
While my personal cooking journey continues, I wanted a space to document these flavors and techniques so they aren't lost to time. This site is my digital kitchen door—always open.
